Fishermen did, and alerted authorities.

Also, the reported 48k's seems to be incorrect - the quoted co-ordinates and other reports indicate further.

I believe in the interest of closure that there needs to be a detailed forensic autopsy completed on Amelia, water sample from lungs, any other fluid samples, DNA analysis and full screen toxicology including blood, urine and brain.
The family deserve to know without any doubt what happened to their daughter otherwise they will never be able to fully grieve and hopefully one day come to an acceptance of what tragic event took their daughter from them.
Maybe that crowd funding exercise and a bit of assistance from the UK foreign office could go a long way in getting Amelia home to the UK.

Breaking News: CEO News has received information from the Child Protection Unit (CPU) that the CPU homicide team is heading to Sihanoukville tonight with a forensic pathologist to assist the Cambodian National Police in their investigation into the death of Amelia Bambridge.

Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 31 – The body of 21-year-old British woman Amelia Bambridge was found on Thursday, 31 October 2019, near border of Thailand, approximately 100 km from Koh Rong Island where she missed.(sic)

Tea Sokha, deputy commander of navy, told Fresh News today that the body of Amelia was found near Shark Island of Koh Kong province, Cambodia.

Excellent news. Nothing gained by speculating what an official autopsy will find, but I too feel there's been some foul play. Amelia is said to be conscientious and careful, one clue being her bag that showed how well prepared she tended to be. I am more confident of a thorough investigation now that the CPU is involved.
