Sar Kheng pushes Phnom Penh to clean up sidewalks

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Has anyone tried to walk on the footpath in street 5, that's the road from Garage bar to Kandel market. Every inch if that street is , presumably rented out by the police ? and this year has had new ATM/s and hair dressers take up any available space that was not being used. It's got to the stage where they are best closing the whole street to traffic and making it a mall.

Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Depends which district. And when I talk about cleaning up the sidewalks, I do not just mean rubbish but the fact that said sidewalks are used as parking lots, roads, restaurants, etc. and there the cities in Vietnam have failed miserably.

Mix in some cold beer and I think you've got something....

Actually, there has been some progress at least in the area I noted (st 154/river). the area around the night market can be fun as well when it's running and the transport buses are loading, etc!

cheers

I always do, my man, I always do. Most conversations here in rural Cambodia are hardly of a challenging nature. You don't really need native fluency to follow and participate in them. And there is little need to be stone sober. I am grateful for the exchanges on this forum which are more challenging. Think I'll drink to that.
