Russian Shoots Cambodian Outside of Casino in Sihanoukville

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

You could even argue that barang crime is of benefit to the community too. These guys will pay a fistful of dollars to the authorities to get out of jail. These dollars will be spent on food, beer, massages, girls, jewelery etc etc. all these business owners and their families will benefit from this crime!!!! Soon the locals will be issuing Russians with guns as part of their marketing strategy.

Wow, did you hack my financial planning app? You just listed my budget verbatim. Ok, minus the jewelry.

I'm impressed that the shooters keep getting caught (if in fact the paraded arrestees are actually guilty). Either SHV is attracting only the hapless, fourth-rate Russian mobster wanna-bes or the local police are making commendable strides in their investigative skills.

Phnom Penh has the "Russian Market," and it looks like Sihanoukville will soon need a "Russian Jail."

Oh boy, PPP just updated their article on the story!

Seems the police are looking to arrest the 45 year old Russian expat living in Sihanoukville by the name of Oleg Tikhanov, who owns Oceania Kindergarten, the Oceania Boutique Hotel and the Garage Bar.

Oleg Tikhanov is wanted by Interpol by for serious crimes in Russia, including “illegal possession of explosives.”

He is also the boss for several of the attackers at the Queenco Casino last week. Coincidence, I'm sure, LoL.

Lim Sokha Raksmey, acting director of the Cambodian Interpol office, told the PPP that Tikhanov was just one of many foreigners causing headaches in the costal tourist hot spot.

"We have quite a few Russians in Sihanoukville with problems," Lim Sokha Raksmey was quoted as saying.

Fugitive Russian mobsters with explosives. This might get ugly. There are sure to be well-armed, desperate goons who will do anything to avoid getting sent back to Russia. It's not like it's easy for them to hide. Time for the authorities to clean house down there.

I would hardly call what he did resisting arrest. More light bickering before the inevitable happens. Still, he's lucky there were cameras everywhere because otherwise he'd probably even get a beat down for that.

I thought it looked like he pushed his friend away before turning to run off, then got grabbed by the group of cops and put up a fight for a minute before they cuffed him.

I guess I've seen too many US cop videos where that kind of minimal resistance will get you tazered, charged with resisting and possibly even used as grounds for shooting you dead, LoL.
