Russian man arrested for having no passport and possessing illegal weapons

Sihanoukville: The night on 29 July 2015, police in Sihanoukville arrested a Russian man staying in guest house calls Keo Earn, located in group #7, village #3, and commune #4, Sihanoukville. Police arrested him after they found that he had no passport and he also had mental problem and hide some weapons that can cause trouble to other people such as 7 knives and 1 scissor.

Police in Sihanoukville confirmed that on 30 July 2015 the Russian man was sent to the department of immigration for deportation from Cambodia.

Seriously? Kitchenware is weaponry now? Though if he was carrying them on his person - that's another thing entirely. But if not, I think I'm looking at a life sentence...

Not sure about Cambodia's current law, but back in 2009-10 you can be charged with any blades that when your vehicle is being searched.

That's really sad...I hope the police never raid my home, I've got a large collection of illegal kitchen knives, scissors and sharp tools

No sympathy for being caught out as an overstayer though...if he was mentally stable enough to get a visa in the first place then surely he could've got himself an extension.
