Rick Barnes Crashes His Motorbike on Sihanouk BLVD Barrier

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Here's an idea for LanguageCorps' marketing:

'Breaking down (language) barriers for you, 24/7.'

Rick was lucky, he could have been a Language Corpse

Well not knowing the guy personally, I have heard about him from people who have taken his course. They seem to have eventually gotten good jobs. Not sure if it's their innate abilities or Rick's course. I found a couple of things distasteful about it though. One was the price: comes in at almost the same as for a real CELTA course, about 2/3rds of ILA in HCMC.
And two: they will find you a position at the end of the course but want to take 20% of your salary for quite a lengthy period.
Other than that, I know which ward he is in and who his surgeons are, they seemed to do OK with Nick (although it just seems to have prolonged his agony maybe). I wish the man Good Luck.

20%? How long exactly? Mmm, I wonder what MLVT would say? Probably ask for a cut.

Anybody remember the Sophie's story?

Then don't say it. Or go and say it somewhere else? You know.

I also don't like that they say it's "accredited." Unless things have changed, their accrediting agency is probably some bullshit website that they set up themselves..

I also think it's totally for backpacker teacher. Why pay more for a certificate from an unknown organisation when you can get a Cambridge CELTA, etc, for a lot less? You're either stupid, or they have a good salesman.

I can see their sales pitch now. "Would you rather have a certificate for less money from a far away country like England, or a unknown cert from here on the ground where you'll be teaching? It's all about connections here. We have those."

No employer/school says, "Oh, they studied to teach English in Cambodia at an unknown place? We should hire them! Everyone knows Cambodia is famous for their high quality education offered!"

I believe it also has a few days off just backpacking around Cambodia, which counts for the course.

I bet they likely turn a good profit, finding suckers that have never taught before and promising them a guaranteed shit-pay job while they take 20% off of that.

I've asked for links several time on different occasions, but apparently it's normal on CEO to post stuff without mentioning the source of the news. *shrug*
I agree, having transparency in the source of articles is important because some sources are more credible/reliable/biased than others. The readers should have an opportunity to consult the original sources themselves. I don't know why that information is withheld and no explanation is given even when we ask why the source is always withheld.

Well in Rick's case the sauce was the cause of the accident.

It's better than some forums where they meticulously quote sources in their never-ending anal quest to appear 'profssional', and then ban people for discussing the content.
