I wish Australia would grow some balls and deport Khmers with serious convictions.
Re: returnees article "being American was all she knew"
kind of wish they would of did the article on somebody else. they're plenty of guys who went to jail (didn't sign a deportation deal like this girl for early release), and still got sent back. i have a problem when you serve your full time, reform, and get punished a second time years later.

There are different standards for treatment concerning citizens and non citizens in every country. Nothing strange or underhanded about that.jimsocks wrote:kind of wish they would of did the article on somebody else. they're plenty of guys who went to jail (didn't sign a deportation deal like this girl for early release), and still got sent back. i have a problem when you serve your full time, reform, and get punished a second time years later.

It sucks - double penalty. She has a kid too, who is going to grow up without knowing his mother - what about his rights ? How is it in the interests of the US to have yet another kid without a parent? And credit card fraud is BAD, but not exactly a danger to society.jimsocks wrote:kind of wish they would of did the article on somebody else. they're plenty of guys who went to jail (didn't sign a deportation deal like this girl for early release), and still got sent back. i have a problem when you serve your full time, reform, and get punished a second time years later.
Obviously she had no idea; if she had got her citizenship, then she could have gone really wild and stayed in the US ...no worries

How is deporting her unfair. She was a GUEST in our country. Not a citizen.clippy wrote:totally self inflicted. but you have to see the unfairness of the situation
US citizen does credit card fraud - few months in jail
Khmer does credit card - few months in jail, then deported and cant get back ever again
european convention on human rights would make this impossible in EU countries, she has a son and a right to family life means no deportation - rightly or wrongly
I can see why US would want to deport murderers and hardcore felons, but this seems to be so harsh to me
Soi Dog - I cant access that article now either, weird because i could when i posted it. I dont think it said about how shes earning a living here actually
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

well her son IS a citizen, and he has to grow up without a parent, so not great for him.

you think, he had been living with here before the arrest ?
you think, she was all tears, when leaving him back ?

hm... young, irresponsible, reckless, and a criminal in a foreign country ( oh yeah and lazy because she didn't do the citizenship paperwork)... That's a pretty damn good recipe for deportation. There are plenty of people in this country who have dreamed for years of what they could have done with such an opportunity.
Reality time.. I hope miss pich gets her life straightened out and finds a way to have a successful future in Cambodia. thug life just ain't what it was once cracked up to be.
