Recent Study of 24 Asian Countries: Traffic Accidents are the Leading Cause of Death for People Under 30
"A recent study of 24 Asian countries found a highway death toll of 750,000 per year; Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for people under the age of 30.
BANGKOK- The World Health Organization (WHO) is pressing Asian countries to cut their road death and injury toll in half by 2020.
A 2015 study from Chalmers Technical University in Goteborg, Sweden, covering 24 Asian countries encompassing 56 percent of the world's population, says the total highway death toll for those countries is 750,000 per year with traffic accidents the leading cause of death for people under the age of 30.

What a waste of life
Road accidents during Songkran have claimed 442 lives over seven days, 78 more than last year, with drink driving being the number one cause of crashes
There were a total of 3,447 road accidents during the so-called “seven dangerous days” of Songkran, -
Most of the crashes – about 81% – involved motorcycles -
NCPO deputy spokeswoman deputy Sirichan Ngathong said 6,613 vehicles, including 4,963 motorcycles, were seized from drink drivers from April 9-17 under the campaign called “Seizure of vehicles if drink driving”.
