PP is ready for 133 storey twin towers - tallest building in SEA.

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

BKL was right in that thread, this is one incredibly ugly building. If you want to make a statement with a tall building, at least make it slender and sexy. This one looks like it was designed by a 6yo with some lego blocks.
local companies cant produce slender sexy buildings, HELL... they cant even make a right angle on a straight wall

"And their wages will boost the incomes of the local poor"

That's one hell of an optimist view of the trickle down effect. The poorly paid will boost the incomes of the unpaid.

It probably does not look straight because of the curvature of the earth. Or maybe you belong to the '' Flat Earth Society ''.

Listen, none of my walls are straight - in Cambodia and elsewhere. But that doesn't pose a problem since I'm not in a 133 storey skyscraper.

plus, the money and engineering comes from China, so how could they communicate with local workers?

Exactly. Other than noodle vendors, minor suppliers & a translator or two there will be very, very few locals employed. Can not blame them. Most of the $ earned will return to PRC.

I was at SHV port cruising around & was impressed that the Chin company rebuilding the port were all wearing yellow hard hats, orange safety vests & SHOES! Not one was on his cellphone, sitting around or in a hammock. Absolutely amazing!

Lets all help design the new flag for Chinbodia.

Some readers here were in PP when the truly hideous building - which looks like a glass boot with a glass box perched on the foot - was being built.

Well, did that lengthy period of construction improve the lot of the construction workers and noodle-sellers or not?

Can't answer your question but I quite like that building. At least someone made an effort to come up with something unique, unlike the proposal being discussed.
