by Sek Odom | May 12, 2016
An 18-year-old fisherman was arrested in Kandal province on Tuesday evening for the rape of an 11-year-old girl who had gone out alone that morning to pick fruit, authorities in Sa’ang district said on Wednesday.
Seng Socheat, the district police chief, said the girl had gone off to a neighbor’s sapodilla farm in Troeuy Sla commune in the morning to pick fruit when the suspect, Leng Chea, began to follow her. Three Suspects Questioned Over Gang Rape, Murder
by Buth Kimsay | May 17, 2016
Three men on trial for the gang rape and murder of a 26-year-old karaoke parlor worker last year retracted prior confessions during their hearing at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Monday.
Nang Navy, 19, had confessed to killing Vong Kunthea in June after he paid $10 to have sex with her and then passed her over to six other men who raped her one by one.
But Mr. Navy told the court on Monday that fellow suspect Prey Sok Luck, 51, had coerced him into taking the blame for Mr. Sok Luck’s crime.
“I faked my confession to the court, saying that I raped and killed the karaoke girl, because Prey Sok Luck forced me to confess,” he said.
When Presiding Judge Keo Mony asked Mr. Navy why he had not informed police of this when he was first questioned, Mr. Navy said he had also felt pressured to say he was at fault “because the police used violence to question me.”

Suspected Serial Rapist Arrested
BY PHAN SOUMY | JUNE 3, 2016 | អានជាភាសាខ្មែរ
Police arrested a suspected serial rapist in Battambang province on Wednesday for a litany of alleged offenses against minors that came to light after a teenage victim told police she had been repeatedly assaulted by the man.
Dek Chea, a 60-year-old farmer, was arrested at the house he shares with his wife and three children in Bavel district’s Khnach Romeas commune after a boy witnessed his 16-year-old sister being raped last month, said commune police chief Tom Socheat.
“An 8-year-old boy, the brother of the victim, saw it, and then he told his aunt about it,” Mr. Socheat said, adding that the girl’s aunt informed commune police about the assault on Wednesday morning.
During questioning, the victim said she had been raped by Mr. Chea many times.
“She said he would cover her mouth and strangle her,” Mr. Socheat said.
After the first victim came forward, Mr. Socheat said, the families of three other girls between the ages of 11 and 15 filed complaints against the elderly farmer.
“The victims would go to watch TV at his house and he would rape them…in the forest near his house,” the police chief said, adding that the suspect had used bribery and threats to keep the girls quiet.

Monk Jailed for Underage Rape
A teenage monk who was defrocked and arrested for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl at a Phnom Penh pagoda last year was found guilty by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and sentenced to six years in prison yesterday.
Presiding judge Yin Saroeun said the 14-year-old former monk was staying at Kork Khsarch pagoda in Phleung Chhes Rotesh commune at the time of the attempted rape and was charged by the prosecutor with “rape with aggravating circumstance” under article 241 of the Penal Code.
“The court convicted him to six years,” he said.
Judge Saroeun said the attack happened on November 9 last year, when the monk invited the girl, who was playing near the Venerable Thong Hak’s room, into his room for some cake and orange juice, but forced himself on her and raped her once they were alone in his quarters.
“But when the victim entered his room, he caught her and forcibly raped her,” he said.
After the attack, the girl fled and told her mother, who then took her to a doctor for an examination which confirmed she had been raped. The mother then filed a complaint to police.

I can't believe this thread continues. It's in the worst of taste. "I find it interesting" says something I find a bit disturbing. There's no good reason for it in my view. And no good excuse.

Alleged Pedophile on the Run Strikes Again
BY PHAN SOUMY | JUNE 6, 2016
Already two years on the run from an arrest warrant over the rape of a minor, a 29-year-old construction worker allegedly raped an 8-year-old girl living in his commune in Phnom Penh on Saturday and once again escaped capture, according to an official.
Meas Sophanet, 29, was convicted of raping a minor in 2014. On Saturday, police say, he abducted and raped a girl who was walking near her home in Chbar Ampov district’s Niroth commune.
“She went to look for her cousin to call him home,” deputy district police chief Mao Soeut said on Sunday, adding that the cousin ignored her. “The incident happened behind another villager’s house at about 5 p.m. when the girl was walking home alone.”
“He dragged her by her arms —while covering her mouth—into a banana farm,” Mr. Soeut said. “Then he stripped off her clothes and raped her.”
The suspect then told the girl to get dressed and go home, threatening to kill her if she told anyone about the incident, he said.
District police were alerted to the case at about 8:30 p.m. by the victim’s parents and arrived at their house before 9 p.m., he added, but by then the suspect had already fled.
“We already clearly know his identity, as he lives in the same village,” Mr. Soeut said, adding that a young neighbor had seen the victim being dragged away and was able to identify the suspect.

Article from the Cambodia Daily:
10-Year-Old Girl Raped, Murdered in Prey Veng
by Phan Soumy | June 9, 2016
A 30-year-old man was arrested in Prey Veng province on Tuesday for raping and murdering his 10-year-old neighbor after convincing her to help him search for honeycomb in the forest, police said on Wednesday.
The suspect, Try Kimcheang, lived near the victim in Svay Antor district’s Popeus commune, according to provincial police chief Sreng Chea, and intercepted the young girl while she was riding a bicycle with her 4-year-old sister on Tuesday afternoon, on their way to deliver coffee to their father in a rice field.
“After she finished making coffee to bring to her father, she ran into the suspect and the suspect called her to look for bees. So she went with him,” Mr. Chea said.
When the 4-year-old agreed to take the coffee to her father alone, Mr. Kimcheang led the older girl into a nearby wood and raped her, he said, adding that the man flew into a rage when the victim began screaming and would not stop.
“The victim cried and cursed, and the suspect could not stand it,” he said. “So he strangled her.”
When the girl’s father noticed that his daughter was missing, he questioned the 4-year-old, who recounted her sister’s conversation with Mr. Kimcheang about collecting honeycomb and directed her father and a group of villagers into the forest, where the body was found, Mr. Chea said.
The father informed local police, who arrested Mr. Kimcheang in the forest at about 5 p.m., he said.
Despite the visible scratches on his neck, the suspect initially denied that he had raped and murdered the girl, but finally confessed, the police chief added.
James McCabe, director of operations for the Child Protection Unit, a policing arm of the Cambodian Children’s Fund, said the rape occurred near the spot where the victim parted ways with her younger sister.
“The body of the little girl was found partially naked among some bushes approximately 200 meters from where she had last been seen,” he said.

Reply to Rape Thread comment:
By looking at this thread, you can see quite clearly that every week there are news reports of child rape, gang rape and murder-rape. How can it be a bad thing to draw attention to this problem ? Why should it remain a dirty secret ? Better lance the boil, see the pus, then do something about it, rather than stick a band-aid over it and pretend it's not there.
Of course it's disturbing, but these rapes and murders won't go away just because you find it in bad taste to report them. Children are being raped and murdered by their family, friends, neighbours. This is repulsive and disgusting behaviour, and it needs attention.Mr Curious wrote:I can't believe this thread continues. It's in the worst of taste. Alleged Rapist Arrested After Nearly a Decade on the Lam
by Phan Soumy | June 10, 2016
An alleged rapist was arrested in Kampot province on Thursday after nearly a decade on the run, according to police, who apprehended the suspect when he returned home to take a motorbike from his wife.
Dang Yuk, 37, was arrested just before dawn at his house in Chhuk district’s Kraing Sbov commune after his teenage son told commune police that his estranged father had returned home and made violent threats, said commune police chief Nuon Sophal.
“He threatened his wife and son because he wanted to take their motorbike,” Mr. Sophal said, adding that the son told investigators he had not known that his father was a wanted man.
Commune authorities were familiar with the old charges against Mr. Yuk, however, and transferred him to district police when they realized who he was, he said.
“We knew that an arrest warrant was issued for him a long time ago,” he said, explaining that Mr. Yuk stood charged with raping and robbing a woman in nearby Angkor Chey district in 2006, and that the provincial court had issued a warrant for his arrest the following year.
