I heard an alternative Tuol Sleng may have been set up for the interviews.
Just waiting to see to the world's reaction to all this. Democracy or money? Which will they go for? Econmic sanctions? Or just strong words?
Plus, the other political aspect, Chinese influence over the region and Cambodia's part in it.

It's possible that he has confused HE with Chea Sim who was CPK secretary of Ponhea Krek district.John Bingham wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2017 3:13 pm So he was a deputy regimental commander. Saying he was deputy leader of an area wrongly implies that he was a political cadre.

My point was that he led a gang of soldiers who carried out his orders so well that he got promoted. The overall point was that he's a " shoot them in the head" type of guy, re his old threat to a journalist, and he doesn't seem to have mellowed at all.takeoman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 9:49 amIt's possible that he has confused HE with Chea Sim who was CPK secretary of Ponhea Krek district.John Bingham wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2017 3:13 pm So he was a deputy regimental commander. Yesterday he was calling the CNRP nothing but gangsters. Lmao.
Asian power politics.

Many attempts have been made to find evidence that he was directly involved in summary executions or other atrocities during his time as a KR commander. None have been successful, though that doesn't necessarily prove his innocence.
I find it annoying that foreign articles that are blatantly anti-CPP constantly refer to his time in the KR, knowing full well the implications. They rarely mention his defection to Vietnam.

Let me just take this opportunity after Gilmore etc's posts, to say what nice guys some of the KR guys were. No, really. Truly great guys you'd like to bring home to meet your mother, indeed the whole family. Especially the commanders. Truly wonderful people. Fantastic..
I only hope I get to scarper in time too.

"They rarely mention his defection to Vietnam."
I am reasonably well read in scholarly publications of that time period in Khmer history. Which specific publications do you have in mind. All that I have read necessarily touch on that fact. So again which ones do you have in mind?

As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

PM bets big with China backing
Jiarui, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party’s international liaison department and current vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), reaffirmed Beijing’s support following the late-night arrest of CNRP President Kem Sokha, Sarana said.
He said the official, whose committee is described as a nonstate organ that advises on state affairs, expressed the sentiment that “an obstacle for Cambodia is also an obstacle for China”.
“China is behind Cambodia to help and support,” he said, relating the discussion. “The success of Cambodia is also the success of China.”

I don't think it's a coincidence that he spouted almost the same stuff about China helping Cambodia as that which got Sokha arrested for treason when he mentioned getting help from the US. It's just pure Asian power politics, or I'm bigger and more powerful than you, look.
To me it just looks like he s n China's pocket: if he doesn't play ball they will just find smeone who does...

valid discussion and i would advise all members to distance themselves from any partisanship or the appearance thereof in these discussions for their own security.
when you examine the qualifications of the probable devolution of power to the current generation, there are some very well educated people with business, military and intelligence backgrounds on the team.
i think we underestimate the capabilities of the status quo.
