Poor Girl Finally Managed to Sit and Listen to Teacher in the Classroom Without Having to Look Through Window

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Eight years old girl was standing from the outside of the room and looking to the board from the window while everyone was sitting in the class listening to teacher.

She couldn’t go to school as other kids as her parents went to work in Thailand leaving her living with her old grandfather.

Battamabang: According to Live.com News, due to poverty, her parented migrated to work in Thailand leaving her, Houch Lai Heak, eight year old girl, with her old grandfather. Unlike every other child in the village, Lai Heak couldn’t go to school due to poverty. However, because of her natural desire in striving in education, she doesn’t give up. She wanted to get education like other child as well. So, she always walked about one km from her home to school and sneaked from the window and tried very hard listening to teacher like other children too.

Lai Heak is living in Kambov Tbong village, Phnom Sampov commune, Battambang province. She has three siblings who are living outside the care of their parents. Due to poverty, their parent had migrated to work in Thailand leaving her and her other two siblings living with their old grandfather. They are really poor and couldn’t put food on the table three times per day.

Due to the poverty, Lia Heak and her siblings couldn’t get the chance to go to school like other child. However her desire in education pushed her to move forward and never giving up. She walked 1 km to school every day and tried to get as much as from teacher by looking and listening via the window.

According to teacher Ngien Bun Sohceatha, a first grade teacher at Kambov primary school located in kambov village, Sampov commune, Banon distric , Battambang province, Lai Heak always came to school every day and looked and listened from the window. She was wondering, so she called her to come in and asked her. Then, she said, she wanted to study like other too. She was really shy and was crying a little bit.

After having realized that Lai Heak wanted to study, so teacher Socheata drove a motorbike to Lai Heak house located in Chouk village in order to ask for permission from her grandfather to allow her to go to school. Her grandfather didn’t refuse it. Therefore, teacher Socheata bought some new clothes, shoes and some other studying materials for Lai Heak in order to fulfill her wish of going to school.

On 27 January 2016, Lai Heak finally could go to school like other child. Teacher Socheata said, Lai Heak was really happy and excited with her new school uniforms and studying materials. She is now sitting in the table and listening to teacher carefully.

The public and people on Facebook had praised the kind heard of teacher Socheata.

However, teacher Socheata is worried that Lai Heak might have to drop out from school one day due to the situation of her grandfather. So teacher Socheata has called for charity people to help Lai Heak to be able to continue to study and finish it like other child too.

That's genuinely lovely. Big props to the teacher and bigger props to the little lass for being so determined to go to school too.

Great story,

Glad to see there are still decent people out there.

The teacher needs to be recognized for such an act.

Yea, good story. I'm a big fan for giving kids, especially girls a early start to education which is why I sponsor 4 girls and of the two youngest ,one started private English school at 3 yo, the other at 4 yo .

But something in the OP story does not sound right,,, How many village kids get 3 meals a day ?
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

The only thing recognized in Cambodia is how big your Range Rover is.

Rice soup 3 times a day qualifies as "three meals" I guess.

That's a lovely story, if rather sad.

Nice to have some good news for a change. :hattip:

But yeah, it's also sad that it took a kind and dedicated teacher to give her a chance. Luck of the draw and all that.

Sorry to harp on about my kids, but I'm so proud of them. Here's the oldest one [ 2004 ] on her first day at school, and more recent one.
