Policeman Went to Sing Karaoke, Got Angry, Shot the Sofa.
Kampot Province: An extremely drunk man stumbles into a karaoke club called “9 Star” and is disgusted that no one is friendly to him so he takes his pistol and shoots one bullet which causes panic at 12:15 after midnight, at the very beginning of the 7th of February 2015 in the south of village 2, Sangkat Andong Khmer, Kampot town.
An anonymous source said that the man above is called Khauch JayRithy, 31 years old, a police civil servant, in the accounting division with the rank of Sub-Lieutentant for the Svay Rieng Unit, and he lives in the north of Kampong Bye village, Sangkat Kampong Bye, Kampot town.
The source of information said that before the incident occurred they saw a man dressed in uniform driving a black (Toyota) Vigo car (pickup truck) , of which the number plate details they couldn’t remember, and which had 2 passengers inside; they parked outside of the Karaoke club and went into a room…both were drunk already. He then sat down and started drinking 2 cases of ABC beer with his friend and the karaoke girls, he then became extremely drunk and started talking very loudly to himself, no one else dared to say a word.
Afterwards they left the Karaoke room and came back downstairs, they then drove off in their vehicle, then one moment later they returned and went back up to their room, sat down for a moment and then suddenly he withdrew his pistol from his waist: seeing this the group of girls fled the room, just after that he shot one bullet of his gun into the sofa and caused a general panic.

(Also looks like the cop left behind his pistol, smartphone AND his ID card!, although not discussed in the news article)

As much as this crap happens, I'm still surprised it doesn't happen MORE often.Rama wrote: -----

But to be fair, I guess it happens a lot more often than makes the print. There isn't always an anonymous source to report it.

Re: Policeman shoots Karaoke Club Sofa
Every time I walk around the corner a guy in military uniform, sitting drinking at a roadside shack, abuses me verbally unless I'm with a Khmer friend. My great offense was to greet him in Khmer once, at which point he totally lost his lolly. I actually have some concern that one day he'll be further into the alphabet (ABC's, give it a moment) and fire a shot. Asshole.

KAMPOT – An off-duty police captain caused a commotion at the 9 Star KTV in Tvey Khan Tbong village in early hours of Saturday. Unhappy because no one paid attention to him, he fired a shot and frightened everyone.
Khouch Chey Rithy, 36, worked as an accountant for the police in Svey Rieng, Kampong Bay district.
Mr. Rithy was already drunk when he entered the KTV with a friend. They went directly to the KTV room and finished off two cases of ABC beer. Mr. Rithy started to shout and talk to himself because no one would talk with him.
He then went out to his parked car, and came back with a pistol in his hand. He fired one round into a sofa in the KTV room.
The sofa was taken to the upholsterer for repairs.
