Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): According to a report by Phnom Penh police forces, a gang of 4 males and 1 female, who specialized in robbing houses and stealing motorcycles, were detained by Sen Sok and Por Senchey police at 11:15 pm on August 1, 2023 In the village of Chumpouvorn, Sangkat Choam Chao III, Khan Por Sen Chey.
Following complaints from victims, Sen Sok police tracked down a silver Highlander, used by the gang, (with the license plate Phnom Penh 2A- 6184) which was parked in the garage of a rented house in Porsenchey.


A Deputy Inspector at Sen Sok district said that after receiving the complaint, his forces finally located the vehicle and raided the rented house where it took them 2 hours to chase down the five suspects and take them into custody. The gang comprised of four males and a female, and two of the men had been disguising themselves as fake monks to obtain entry into people's houses and property. When police searched the Highlander car, they found monks' robes, bags, bowls, and umbrellas which were duly confiscated.


The Inspector said that the suspects were all taken to the Sen Sok District Police Inspectorate by the Criminal Division, and the two fake monks and the driver were sent on to Por Sen Chey district police for further proceedings.
