Pet Owners Warned to Stop Pooping in Public Places

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Pet Owners Warned to Stop Pooping in Public Places

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Phnom Penh will be a much cleaner place, thanks to this crackdown by the Phnom Penh Municipality.

Dog owners warned of fines for public pooping

Tue, 31 May 2016
Bun Sengkong

Unscrupulous dog walkers beware – the Phnom Penh municipality is cracking down on animal defecation in Phnom Penh’s parks, an official confirmed yesterday.
Phnom Penh Deputy Governor Khuong Sreng yesterday said the city was mulling fines for those who allow their animals to relieve themselves in public parks.

“One builds parks for people to relax and exercise, not for people to smell pets’ poo,” Sreng said. “There are more people in the city, and there are more pets as well. We want people to have discipline in pet-raising...”

I'll have you know that Phnom Penh has 68 parks. I read it on the internet!
The pet pooping forbidding is not applied for all the 68 parks in Phnom Penh

Hopefully they will also stop all the locals pissing along the Riverside promenade too

Normally it doesn't smell too bad, but when I arrived back in Phnom Penh on the 22 Feb this year after 3 weeks down south, the whole promenade was absolutely reeking of human piss, due to some big celebration going on

Are the naked homeless people still running around the riverside? A few years ago there was one with shit pouring out of her ass as she walked past the tourists eating. Would have ruined the tourists' day if they saw some dog poo after that...

I'll be back in a couple weeks and haven't had a drink in almost 2 months, so I wouldn't rule that out.

They've probably counted each grass area as separate park, for example 18 parks between Sisowath Quay and the Royal Palace...
