Damn, if true, it explains why they didn't give the press his name or the name of his bar while they were sorting out their tea money.Raybull wrote:5000$ and he's out I've been told (by someone involved on the bust side)

Lucky he didn't have hard drugs onsite, would of cost have 5k$++ and a few years in the pen. According to my source they've been sussing him out for a while, but weren't sure what they would find onsite. It's only weed, so the brass and courts are happy with more pocket change. They could of hooked him up with some meth and really fucked him over if they wanted too but the Kampot brass are for,the most part straight shooters.krisduncs wrote:He is free already. Damn, might prove tricky for him to stay in Cambodia now, and will have to slow down his drug dealing.LTO wrote:If I was him, I don't think I'd want these latest details all over internet. If true, time to vamoose.
I wonder if the other foreigners had to pay anything.

That's the figure I was given last night, he might have had to chip in a bit more because it went to court today but I doubt it...I Think it was a 'fully comprehensive donation'.General Mackevili wrote:Raybull wrote:5000$ and he's out I've been told (by someone involved on the bust side)krisduncs wrote:He is free already. Everybody pays. Given the publicity he is lucky to still be able to do that. Publicity makes everything more difficult and expensive. But generally speaking, it's really not good practice to publicly announce that you are paying bribes to corrupt official to get out of a crime. That's inviting about four more kinds of potentially even more serious trouble.

I find it hard to believe that your typical skint expat who posted this on Facebook six months ago came up with $5,000 in 24 hours:
"As many of you might realize, I am very nearly broke. For a long time now, forever actually, as me having money is rare and exceptional. This is the reason we don't breakfast at Espresso or dinner at Tertullia, as much as we would love to."

Maybe it's 'HIGH' season and he's rolling in it.
