Cambodia News (Stueng Treng): On July 6, 2020, at 9:30 am this morning, General Lieutenant Dos Vannasovathanak, director of the Anti-drug department in Stueng Treng, led local forces and border police to arrest a Laotian man, Pen Ngen, 39 years old, with 7117,47 grams of meth (ICE), at the port in Anglong Svay village, Borey Ousenchey district, Steung Treng.

Lieutenant Dos Vannasovathanak reported that the police made an investigation and arrested the suspect with the evidence: five big packages of drugs wrapped as Chinese tea, weighing 7117.47 grams.
The traffic of methamphetamine wrapped in Guanyinwang Chinese tea packages has been identified as the signature of a global Chinese syndicate trafficking meth, aka ice, from Myanmar laboratories through South East Asia to the rest of the world.*

The suspect explained that he was a taxi driver for a Chinese company, and that he was just delivering those packets of drugs to other people. However, after a drug test, the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.


The suspect has been detained at Stueng Treng police station for questioning and the case preparation will follow the legal procedure.
