Opposition Leader Kem Sokha (CNRP President) Arrested For "TREASON" in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

CNRP President Kem Sokha has been arrested for “treason”, according to a government statement. The leader of the opposition was arrested at his house in the Toul Kork area of Phnom Penh at 12.35am on Sunday, the statement said.

The government said it had evidence linking Mr. Sokha to a secret plot to “harm” the country, according to the statement released on media outlet Fresh News. “The Royal Government of Cambodia informs that according to a video clip broadcast on CBN (Cambodian Broadcasting Network) in Australia and other evidence collected, it clearly shows secret plans of a conspiracy between Kem Sokha, others and foreigners to harm the Kingdom of Cambodia.” “The above act of this secret conspiracy is treason,” added the statement.

The government appealed to people to remain calm and allow the court and police to proceed, it said.

I think we are going to have to start making sure that all CEO members are paying their taxes and have good things to say about the ruling party in order to keep their accounts active. :stir:

I think that's the tof as the new majority owner is married to one of the CPP gang, allegedly. He may try and take out the opposition CPP style though.
I just woke-up in the middle of the night, as usual lately, and this is the last thing I expected to read.

It's all right for you, as you're in Saudi. If there are going to be demos and riots, this is the sort of thing that will cause them.
Incidently, I was told yesterday when I picked up my new EOS that they had done away with all the rules about work permits needed for extentions on business visas. Not sure if that is a positive or not with the Hun-gabe shit going down. Maybe the gov don't care anymore seeing as a lot will be leavng anyway.
Time to start packing or at least stocking up on supplies.

He's made his move very early. This guy seems intent on causing shock in public and plunging Cambodia into another civil war. It's fairly easy to work Cambodia out it seems: half eveything to get the right price, and reverse everything the CPP say about others back onto themselves. The real plot happening here is between the CPP and China who has been training, supplying and funding the CPP to undermine democracy.

Article 443 of the Criminal Code states that “conspiracy with [a] foreign power”—defined as “having [a] secret agreement with a foreign state or its agents, with a view to fomenting hostilities or aggression against the Kingdom of Cambodia”—is punishable by imprisonment from 15 to 30 years.

It's obvious to me that he's pulling all this dangerous shit because he's positive he will be voted out by a sizable majority at the next election. That means this new move will anger that sizable majority. Dangerous.

Regarding the timing, if the intention is to 1) obtain a conviction, 2) ban the CNRP, 3) declare a state of emergency, 4) postpone the election, they probably couldn't put of acting much longer. As far as upsetting the majority, here n the sticks the news has, so far, been greeted with total indifference. :hattip:

Do you live in one of the poor MFI villages? If you do,, I think you may be in for a nasty surprise. Otherwise your outlining sounds accurate enough, but knowing HE a bit better in these last moves, I expect he has even more up his sleeve.

Why would he need so long to find a conviction? I'd say he could do it two or three days.
He may have been diagnosed with some terminal illness, and as he sees it, it's now or never for the Hun dynasty.

This morning, Apsara TV aired an excerpt from a Sokha speech, in which he claims unnamed foreign countries and international organisations are directly supporting the CNRP's bid to gain power. I guess this is a key piece of evidence that will be used to incriminate Sokha. The production credits were from a certain news organisation, obviously allied to the government. I didn't note the name, but it wasn't Fresh News.
