One Cambodian and a Vietnamese Prostitutes Arrested For Stealing a Potential Client's Wallet

Phnom Penh: Two prostitues among four were arrested by Russey Keo district police after they stole a wallet from a man, but couldn't manage to run away.

The arrest took place on 26 August 2016 on street 70 in the railway area located in Toul Sengke village, Toul Sengke commune, Russeykeo district, Phnom Penh. Police said before police began arresting the two female prostitutes, there was a man pulling over his motorbike and bargaining with them.

Police said the man didn't manage to reach an agreed price with them yet and then four prostitutes blocked him. Some rode on his motorbike and another stepped on his brake and took his wallet containing $160 USD. They then run away with the man's wallet. The man realized that his wallet was stolen, so he screamed out loud and at that time police were patrolling the place. So, police intervened and arrested two of them.

police confiscated the wallet, but there was only fifty dollar left in the wallet. The money was later returned to the man.

police said a 32 Cambodian woman and 24 Vietnamese were arrested while the 33 and 29 years old women are still at large. The victim is a 34 year old man.

Street 70 was a major red light area back in the 90s. It doesn't look so apparent anymore but there must be a lot of vice still going on around there.

Screaming loudly when you get robbed seems to be the way to go ? There's been a few cases lately where the police have come running.

Two moto-mounted bag snatchers earned themselves a well-deserved beating at the hands of a mob after underestimating the tenacity of one tourist in Daun Penh late on Wednesday night.

The pair’s victim was travelling in a tuk-tuk when the scoundrels struck and tried to relieve her of her bag.

But the woman gave as good as she got, yanking back the bag and hollering for help. Passersby and police then apprehended the crooks.

Victim was only 23, so maybe not married yet. A young guy and a few prostitutes shouldn't raise too many eye-brows in Cambodia.
He can always say that it was a terrible mistake and he was just asking the way to Wat Phnom.

a nation of curious onlookers, advantage is that screams will bring someone running to u, disadvantage is dont know if that someone comes running will do u more harm than good

The places are down the side streets, but prices will be a little higher than 5000 Riel.
