Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On November 14, 2020, a woman employee disappeared after her employer's house collapsed while she was working there. The victim has been named as 61-year-old Hun Sambo, a widow living in the village, who worked as a cook and housekeeper at the two-storey vacation home. She is presumed to have died.
Image
The property belongs to Oknha Khan Panha, the owner of Khan Panha Borey. When the victim's relatives saw that the woman did not return home in the evening as usual, they were much concerned and they went to the house to find her. When they arrived, they discovered that the house had collapsed that morning around 11am, and that their aunty had disappeared. For some reason, the authorities were only notified much later that afternoon.
By the time the relatives arrived at the scene, there was a search underway for the body and the authorities were pumping water from the site.

The collapsed house is 8 meters long by12 meters made of a two-story concrete construction set in a pond about 40 meters by 40 meters in a plot of land owned by Mr. Oknha Khan Panha.
The authorities continued the search for the body of this woman on November 15, 2020. RIP.

That's terrible.

If you are living in a Khan Panha Borey home you may want to call a structural engineer in to check that the same couldn't happen to you or yours!

Any number of basic failures could have caused the collapse
but my best uneducated guess..

The insufficient support for the weight of top floor indicates there is very possibly insufficient foundation work also.
- The water turned the foundation ground to free-flowing mud
- the building tilts a few degrees,
- and those couple of front pillars supporting half the total weight of the "penthouse" on top crumple like matchsticks...

(nb, i am not a real air crash investigator)

What a fucking douche-nozzle. More money than sense.

Not only does he have the requisite 12 foot high wall completely encasing his property.......(I can picture him....tumbler of Hennessy and Coke in his little hand) "I want a moat...........yeah..........give me a moat.........and a draw-bridge..........I saw it in a movie........I need a damn moat and draw-bridge!!!"

"But sir, ohknya, there's engineering challenges involved with that."

"I SAID MOAT!!!!!!!!!! and I want a little island with a tiny causeway next to the house for my Bentley."

"Chop-chop!!!!"

I think the building was already tilting in the first photo.

That would be a warning sign.

Even an okhna’s building must follow the laws of physics and gravity.

RIP poor grandma. Unfortunately the Okhna who ordered it built didn’t go down with his folly.

Yeah I thought so too. The lower level is sloping down to the right quite noticeably. And apparently they knew it at the time, and managed to build the upper floor level. Wouldn't warning bells be ringing if your building is sinking before it's even half built?

RIP grandma.

It's got something to do with the curvature of the Earth . Once you get away from the USA where the Earth is flat and head North to Canada or South to Mexico there is a definite curve to the Earth.

Only other theory would be the photographer taking the photo was pissed .

House in the photo is not on the piss, unless the fence posts behind are also out of plumb by the exact same amount as the house.

Presumably a qualified engineer signed off on the foundation design. Probably already in hiding.
