Police Officer Suspended over Death Threat

After a police officer threatening to shoot an elderly man in Kampong Cham province on Tuesday for not moving his car, the provincial police chief warned that legal action would be taken against his officer, according to a local report yesterday.

Yem Sophal, the deputy police chief of Cheung Prey district, confirmed to Khmer Times that an argument broke out between the police officer and the elderly man after the man refused to move his vehicle that was allegedly blocking a road.

“The man living in Cheung Prey district was Chun Chum, and he is 65-years-old. He claims the officer threatened to shoot him,” said Mr. Sophal...

Just to get this right: if you are an officer and rape a 16-year old relative or if you are an officer and kill somebody in traffic whilst completely hammered, that is OK. But suddenly they get tough on a threat?

Yep. Or maybe the officer concerned had a habit of behaving like a dick. Or old Chun Chum has relations... I give up. TIC.
