Well, Koon Khmer didn't just make it up. Look harder. I want to see if the guy was shirtless.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: Note: No report of this was found in many local news outlets and Facebook as well.

A few reports have been published today:
http://kampucheathmey.com/2016/archives/484707
and
http://goo.gl/j88kiA
They are actually both identical and written by the same journalist...Usual report of such deaths. Foreigner checked in on the 12th, came and went as guests do, on the day of the 28th hotel called up to the room to ask if they could clean...no reply, open the door, found dead. Forensics show heart attack caused by over dose of methamphetamine.
The headline and leading paragraph are interesting:
Because of Over Use of Drugs Another Foreigner Dies in a Duan Penh Guesthouse
Due to the freedom to use drugs without culpability in guesthouses and hotels big and small, another foreigner has died from a drug overdose....

That's interesting, and there is the impending drugs crack-down coming in January. The problem is, I don't believe too many establishments actually encourage drug use. It's very difficult to know what guests might be up to behind doors in their rooms.Rama wrote:

Clearly, the guesthouses and hotels are culpable in the deaths of foreigners from drug overdoses.

They might as well be, or they are in practice - because they have to pay a serious wedge every time a dead barang gets removed from their premises.Username Taken wrote:Clearly, the guesthouses and hotels are culpable in the deaths of foreigners from drug overdoses.

If the authorities want to be serious about stemming the numbers of foreign tourists ODing in guesthouses, particularly in PP, they would do something about the tuktuk drug mafia that hang about in certain tourist areas, selling all sorts of drugs with no visible problems from police. (Surprise.)John Bingham wrote:That's interesting, and there is the impending drugs crack-down coming in January. The problem is, I don't believe too many establishments actually encourage drug use. Anyway, the authorities could clean that up if they wanted to, and that would be a good start to limiting easy access to hard drugs for tourists IMO.
(I think its pretty common knowledge among druggie travelers that you can just turn up in PP, and then go directly to a certain area of the city where you can score from a tuktuk driver or motodop.)

I agree, I've been pissed off more than once by insistent dealers in the riverside area. That's just the most obvious part though, the unseen part is the huge and affects a whole lot of locals.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
