Not everyone is happy with the chinese invasion

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

'This is my land': Cambodian villagers slam Chinese mega-project
A few families in Cambodia's southwest lead resistance effort against large resort including casino and golf courses.
Koh Kong, Cambodia - "I'm Cambodian, I'm not illegal here," said Se Say Hieng, one of the last remaining villagers who refuses to leave land that now belongs to China's Union Development Group.

Construction on a port and resort city in Koh Kong, southwest Cambodia, began in 2008, and while it appears to have stalled, villagers claim that authorities have continued threatening and harassing them as they refuse to leave the leased land.

‘Not everyone is happy’

I have met very few people, Khmer and foreign, who are happy about it.

As are certain wealthy Khmer. Actually now that I think about it, it resembles a friendly.takeover. more than invasion.

Interestingly not all.
I was chatting to a Chinese businessman who has been here for the past 12 or so years.

He said ‘new Chinese no good, all gangster, not polite, make my life difficult’

He said there was growing concern amongst people like him.

No argument. As I stated in previous posts Chinese have been fleeing bad governance for centuries. They're not the issue here.
