North Korea's Angkor Panorama Museum in SR

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I'm kind of pissed I didn't visit the panorama now. It was right by the new ticket mall for the temples and I was outside a couple of times in the past few years and never went in. I knew some of the artist's families. Not on any deep level but they all seemed very nice and worked hard at their skills.

The $15 entrance fee and the fact that I had little time to see anything much those days also played a part.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Cambodia closes N. Korean restaurants, museum to comply with UN ban
January 3, 2020 (Mainichi Japan)

PHNOM PENH (Kyodo) -- Cambodia has closed all six North Korean restaurants operating in the country to comply with international sanctions, an official confirmed on Friday.

Tourism Ministry spokesman Top Sopheak said four restaurants in the capital Phnom Penh and two others in the northern city of Siem Reap were closed by Dec. 22 in line with the U.N. Security Council resolution requiring member states to repatriate North Koreans earning money overseas.

Also shuttered was a North Korean-built panorama museum in Siem Reap, near the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex, which had opened to the public in 2015 and was staffed by North Koreans.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Koy Kuong said there were some 300 North Koreans working Cambodia prior to the closures of those business entities and museum, who have since left Cambodia.

Maybe it can reopen under Khmer management.
It seems strange that artwork would be closed off from public view.

I think that was the original plan. DPRK would run it for 10 years and get their investment money back plus a little extra then hand it over to Cambodias government.

it was a great place to visit before you went to the temples, I always recommended it.
