New Zealand Man Arrested at U-Care for Stealing Perfumes

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I thought this kind of outing belonged to another era, under another forum admin.
Um, it's called "news."

I DO believe that you got no vendetta against this person, but how do you define "News" ?? These are no "news"......it's cheap, attention seeking journalism, and we shouldn't do that. There are indeed boundaries.....boundaries that should be respected. You DO understand what kind of harm we have caused to that person with this thread !! He got caught, and in some way he is going to pay for it.....no need for us to interfere.

Ha! Harm that "we" have caused him?

The dude stole shit from a pharmacy in Cambodia, gets in the paper and this is somehow our fault?

Maybe police shouldn't charge people with shoplifting. It seems unfair. They might have trouble getting a job with shoplifting on their record.

Should we then blame the police for the harm they cause because it's them that put it on their record?

This poor lady in the USA. She shoplifted some cigs, gets her name, picture, employer, family members mentioned, criminal record, all because she stole something. Seems so unfair:

(Just randomly googled "shoplifting cigarettes news" and this link popped up, in case you were wondering what this has to do with anything..)

They even go on to tell about her previous arrests.

What's a thief got to do to keep a low profile around here? Ah yeah, DON'T STEAL SHIT!

JE..SUS,............you are taking that as a justification ???? News are not news !!!! There are agencies that don't show respect of anything.....that would be the dirt press, and there are agencies that have respect and self-respect....that's called quality press. I'd really like to see this forum to go into a direction of fairness and quality.

So, give me the name of one news outlet that you consider to be "news" and I'll go from there.

We haven't tried to paint him in a bad light, etc, just reporting on his arrest that was in the "news," just like news outlets report on all around the world.

You asked for my definition of news, and I can tell you that arrests for crimes falls in that category.

So, before I reply any further to your nonsense here, please give me the name of a legit news outlet and I will go from there and show you just how silly you and Logos are being.

And I don't know if you watched the "news" today, but there was reports of a man taking hostesses in Sydney, Australia today BEFORE he has even been charged with a crime, including his picture, etc.

General...we could talk for hours about that, punching each other on the nose, and still getting no results. Apparently we have different opinions about quality........so be it (I still don't like it).

Thank you. If you "don't like it" that's all you had to say. I have no argument for that.

When you make foolish statements about it not being "news" and then not being able to list a single news outlet that fits your criteria (which I would have crucified you with, LoL, as I'm sure you now realize), it lets me know that I should have just ignored your baseless comments about it not being news in the first place.

Of course it's news. Of course he (or anyone caught committing crimes) doesn't want to be in the news for shoplifting, but to somehow make the people that report it out to be the bad guys is ridiculous beyond words.

Again, you've admitted that you just "don't like it," so fair enough, and I can't fault you one bit for not liking something.

I wonder if he has a criminal record in New Zealand. I doubt that law abiding types move to Cambodia and then spontaneously start taking up a life of crime. Look into that, Gen Mack.
