Rode down road 1 at about 12.30am last night/this morning, never seen has many police stopping just about everything in their direction, apart from me this time. There was a lorry full of motos impounded.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Over 8,000 vehicles pulled over, fined over traffic violations
With the new Road Traffic Law being strictly enforced across the country, traffic police fined owners of more than 8,400 vehicles for traffic rule violations.
The National Police’s report released yesterday said that from Friday to yesterday, traffic police officers fined owners of 6,527 motorcycles and 1,888 cars for breaking the traffic law.
The report said most of the violators were motorcyclists without safety helmets, mirrors, riding on the wrong lane and defying traffic lights.
It said most of the car drivers failed to wear seat belts, had no driver’s licence, were speeding, overloading with goods and going through red lights.
National Police spokesman Lieutenant General Chhay Kim Khoeun said yesterday the law enforcement was tightened despite criticisms over hefty fines by road users.

So do they just check for helmets, mirrors and rules violations or are they also checking licenses (which you should nit need for less than 125cc) and registration cards? I am a little concerned about them checking registration as my bike is used, so the only thing I have to prove that it is mine is the handwritten receipt that I got when purchasing it many years ago.
Re: New Traffic Laws in Force From 1 May 2020
aem, sympathy, but i doubt they'll take it from you. they might want the old owner to verify it and that could be a problem
i did notice they were checking older bikes more, obviously brand new and new were let through if they had helmets mirrors

Barangs need a license to drive any moto that is 50cc and up and they absolutly will take your moto. You don't legally own the bike the person who has the card does. They will have to get it from the police then give it to you, good luck with that.aem wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 8:56 am So do they just check for helmets, mirrors and rules violations or are they also checking licenses (which you should nit need for less than 125cc) and registration cards? If thats the case (and I'm not saying it is or isnt), then renting motos to tourists would be over, given Cambodia does not recognize Intl Drivers License, and tourists cant get a Cambo drivers license without a 6 month+ rental contract and residency letter.
I do acknowledge there's not that many tourists here at the moment though.

I do have a valid Cambodian license. I also have the ownership card, but it is in the name of the original owner. It is not possible to change the card to my name, is it? Hence the need to carry the receipt that confirms that I bought the bike at some point.beaker wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 9:37 amBarangs need a license to drive any moto that is 50cc and up and they absolutly will take your moto. I went to get a license at aeon 2 on friday. They told me i didnt need 1 for 125cc and below. This has been the case since 2016 i think he said. It was meant to change in 2019 buy as of yet has not.beaker wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 9:37 amBarangs need a license to drive any moto that is 50cc and up and they absolutly will take your moto. The only reason i need 1 is for my private medical insurance,as its void for a motor accident withoiut a khmer license.

Not saying you're wrong but do you have a source for this? The question has come up repeatedly on the forum and I've never seen a definitive answer. I've personally asked my local police chief if I need a license (I have one) and he told me not for my moto, only for a car. I have no idea if he's correct though.beaker wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 9:37 amBarangs need a license to drive any moto that is 50cc and up and they absolutly will take your moto. Edit: I also asked at Aeon last time I renewed and they told me no license needed for 125 or less
up to you...
