Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Sar Kheng hails road ‘white days’

Fri, 27 May 2016
Mech Dara and Jack Davies

Cambodia’s new Traffic Law has been a runaway success for road safety, Interior Minister Sar Kheng claimed yesterday, hours after a collision between two trucks carrying garment workers left two dead and nearly 60 injured.

“There were four white days, meaning there were no people dying for four days,” Kheng said. “This has never happened and it’s because we have strictly enforced the Traffic Law.”.

Well let's look at the average mid year.
''Runaway success'', I love irony but excuse me I must flee the scene.

Is this minister for real? He should have to travel Highway #4 (Death Highway To Hell) without a police escort.

And they won't let you drive/ride with your lights on daytime, which is safer as you are seen easier. Got to be prize winning Bullshit of the year!

nowadays most cars have drl (led daytime lights) and I am pretty sure it has not reduced accidents.

Many people here would get pissed about such a law, thinking it would add to the fuel budget.
