New policies to attract retirees to Cambodia ?

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Grinch, stick to Thailand mate, there is absolutely no chance you could make it here in Cambodia. Shit, you couldn't even work out your banking could you?
Like, lets clear this up ay. You couldn't work out how to transfer your multi millions and actually decided it was easier to leave the country and live in Thailand, even though you said you would prefer to live in Cambodia. Fukn 1st world problems mate. Hope you enjoy throwing that tenner down on the bar for your Moscow Mule.

When I need the input of an idiot in Sihanoukville - you'll be the first person I call.

The trouble is with that argument is that you're assuming that you can wait several hours for healthcare - have a stroke or a heart attack and it's the response time that matters. Yes, you can opt to die in a Cambodian hospital (or even the floor outside of one where someone's scared friends dump the person because they have no insurance) but if you're rushed to the hospital in Australia with one of those conditions - you'll be seen immediately as you would be in Thailand or in Malaysia.
Damn, you are wrong again - http://www.couriermail.com.au/ipad/excl ... 6087516289.
Ah, a single position of failure of care extrapolated to cover the entire Australian system? You're so fucking stupid that you probably sit on the TV watching the couch all night long.

Looks like Hotdigr and I are sitting on the same tv watching the same couch and same program. But at least we have not been brainwashed by all the government bullshit.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I wouldn't wish a heart attack on anyone but when you or Hotdigr have your first in Cambodia - assuming you survive - come back and tell me about it then. A flight to Thailand won't look quite so easy at that point.

The most recent posts from the grinch are starting to make sailor man sound like an open minded east coast liberal.

Care to tell us more about your banking rich man problems ? Being myself blessed with enough money to need good banking services, I can't say I ever had to complain about this in my 15y+ in the country.

While good rural medical care may still be in short supply, the situation in Phnom Penh has improved dramatically over the last 20 years and there are now a number of very capable medical facilities. For example my friend had a severe heart attack quite a while ago and was successfully treated at Royal Rattanak.

This hospital has now moved and been upgraded to become Royal Phnom Penh Hospital and was a 50 million dollar investment by Bangkok hospital group. I would be perfectly happy utilizing this facility, however I prefer to use Central Hospital which opened about four years ago, it has some very capable staff and is well equipped. The facility includes a cardio-vascular section which among other things can perform heart valve repair/replacement if necessary.

The point is this is not the mid '90's anymore and facilities have been continuously improving and new ones coming online. As mentioned Royal Phnom Penh and Central are fairly recent additions and the Sunrise Japanese Hospital built on the Chroy Changvar Peninsular should be opening this year. This is to be headed by a team of Japanese doctors and aimed at providing a good international standard of care.

The new Japanese hospital is being very picky in terms of skills and knowledge about who they hire, which is a good thing. My girl works for the sister organization and got automatically rejected (sad). Many staff at the above mentioned hospitals are foreigners or Khmer with advanced degrees from abroad.
