PHNOM PENH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OPENS NEW ARRIVALS HALL AND CONCOURSE EXTENSION

Cambodia's Phnom Penh International Airport officially opened its new Arrivals Hall and concourse extension today.

The facilities were inaugurated by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Bin Chhin.

Following the completion of a $100-million expansion programme in 2016, this second phase of the investment, totaling $26-million, was initiated to address steadily increasing arrivals and to further provide high quality services to airport users.
Phnom Penh1
More than 10,000sqm have been added to the existing passenger terminal and some areas were fully renovated.

The extended Arrivals Hall has been equipped with two new conveyor belts, conferring comfort to passengers and contributing in speeding up baggage delivery.

The Domestic Departure Concourse was expanded and two additional boarding gates were commissioned.

With its modular design, the lounge can conveniently be converted to cater to international passengers in case of operational needs, especially to ease flows at the departure lounges.
Phom Penh2
According to the airport, the Arrivals exit boasts a "spacious esplanade, adorned at its centre with a pond and a hand-carved 20-ton statue representing Khmer symbols of peace and prosperity, welcomes arriving passengers and meeters and greeters.

"Also, the meeting point is filled with new commercial offerings including food anf beverage outlets and kiosks providing telecommunication services, information to tourists, and transports to the city."

Phnom Penh3
VINCI Construction Grands Projets partnered with Muhibbah for the construction and renovation programme.

Before a packed audience, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the critical impacts of the airports activities on Cambodia’s economy and development.

In a study carried-out in 2015, the international airports in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville accounted for 17% of the country’s GDP and provided jobs for 20% of its working population.

The gateways have been developed and managed by Cambodia Airports, a company of France’s VINCI Airports in partnership with Malaysia’s Muhibbah, since 1995.
Phenom Penh4

Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of VINCI Concessions and chairman of VINCI Airports, said: “With this investment programme, we want to keep pace with traffic growth and bolster our airport capacity.

"Along with the network’s two other airports, Phnom Penh international Airport is fully prepared to accommodate the 7-million visitors expected in Cambodia by year 2020 and beyond.”

I hope they get an additional Priority Pass lounge. The one they have is nice, but Bangkok has about 12 different lounges you can access, which is even better.

I just hope they have some seats. It seems that every airport I have been to , wants passengers to arrive early,,, but on time to stand in line at the check-in then go straight onto the plane.

Got to admit though , PP airport gets 10 / 10 for speed and efficiency when arriving by plane.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

The airport was packed with dignitaries and multiple ceremonies today, and the passengers were told to come back tomorrow.

It did seem empty of traffic when I went past yesterday at noon but don't think all flights would be cancelled for a ceremony.

Passenger told to come back tomorrow, really? None of the flights were cancelled or delayed (due to ceremony) yesterday. Normal number of planes took off and landed yesterday.

Agreed that this is a gross exaggeration. Parts of the airport were cordoned off to allow for the ceremonies and the Minister's inspection.
