Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

New Hotline Aims to Fight Growing Online Child Sex Abuse

by Hannah Hawkins | September 15, 2016

An internet hotline aimed at combating online child sexual exploitation and abuse, which experts say are on the rise in Cambodia, was officially launched on Wednesday at an event in Phnom Penh—almost a year after it first went live.

The website—internethotlinecambodia.org—is run by anti-pedophile NGO Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE) with support from the InHope Foundation, a global organization that develops local hotlines for reporting online child sexual abuse.

Those tireless people at APLE are undiscourageable!

In addition to having their operatives - disguised as tuk-tuk drivers and dirty children - following
blameless contributors to this site, they've come up with a jolly good wheeze to squeeze money
out of the gullible and goodthinkful. [A specialised subgroup of the International Donor Community.]

Some while ago, the Dutch do-goodie group 'Terre des Hommes' commissioned someone with ace
computer skills to fabricate an online underage Filipina temptress called "Sweetie"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uSO3BqjF44

Sweetie had lots of admirers eager to send her money in exchange for her doing all sorts of things
in front of a webcam.

Now, good as Sweetie is and was, nobody with a functioning brain would believe that she is/was a
real person. Check out the images for yourselves.

The other point is that surely those enamoured of Sweetie were guilty of the ultimate victimless
crime; those techno-nerds with brilliant computer skills might consider this as a really spiffy
"nice little earner" to be run from home for fun and profit.

Bear in mind that Sweetie and other exploited non-existent online fabrications do not actually
exist and that they can perform acts of unimaginable depravity without breaking any laws.
