Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On June 15, 2020, at 9 pm, a 31-year-old man, Seng Minea called Chou Minea, was arrested for using a long saw to attack his neighbor in Sangkat Steung Meanchey, Phnom Penh. The victim was identified as Beng Sovanna, a 56 year old woman.

The man became angry because his neighbor wouldn't stop singing karaoke too loud, so he grabbed a saw and went over to attack her to stop her singing. The police confiscated a saw which belonged to the suspect. The victim was sent to the Khmer Soviet hospital and filed a complaint at the police station.

The suspect didn't allow the police to do a drug test on him. He was detained at the police station for case preparation.

I abhor violence, but Karaoke has pushed me close to the edge on more than one occasion.

Sometimes you do have to take the saw into your own hands.

Asian people usually seem to be very tolerant of all the anti-social noise, which in the western world, drives people mad.

This guy is obviously an exception

My downstairs noisy neighbour is really pissing me off, I'm very noise-sensitive, but I don't have a long saw, so would probably use a hammer ,if I did completely lose it :)

Yeah, I actually have some empathy for the guy... The odd family party is fine, but if it's every three days with tone deaf singers it gets a bit annoying. Apparently there's a hotline advertised on Facebook you can call to stop loud parties like that. My fiance's family have used it with success. Cops show up and party's over (if it's past 12 it's illegal).

Just get this guy to do your duty work for you. I'm betting he's already out of custody and will avoid any court appearance.

That hotline phone number belongs in every foreigner's contact list.
