A must read 30 years of HE

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Each of the nations pays the salary of their own soldiers/civilian contingent etc. This wouldn't necessarily be very high, especially for countries like Bulgaria or Ghana or whatever. I think the per diem is supposed to be paid back, at least eventually, by the country where the UN mission is. That might take a while...

Thanks, Richard.
I wouldn't worry, anything written about HE by Brad Adams is likely to be 100% BS. He's been stalking HE for 20 odd years and had ago at him recently in a PPP article "Cambodia: Chea Sim Death Shows Failings of the Khmer Rouge Court" Here's the reply from the MI

The Ministry of Interior on Saturday wrote to Adams in response to his article published the week prior and titled “Cambodia: Chea Sim Death Shows Failings of the Khmer Rouge Court”, accusing HRW of skewing the facts about Sim’s past.

“The article was premeditated with the intent to distort the facts and displayed a personal anger towards the top leadership of the Kingdom of Cambodia,” the letter read. “[Sim] is a well regarded patriot who helped rebuild, restore, develop and maintain peace and security of the nation with all his sincerity.”

The letter also stressed that Sim was merely a district official during the Khmer Rouge and not a senior leader. It also said that Sim, as well as his family, were along with millions of other Cambodian citizens victims of the murderous regime, and went on to suggest that HRW might be better off without Adams. http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/g ... w-director

and u take a post in a CAMBODIAN newspaper over the HRW report? LOL

PPP
is a well regarded patriot who helped rebuild, restore, develop and maintain peace and security of the nation with all his sincerity.”
HRW

Chea Sim, like other Khmer Rouge district party secretaries, oversaw a district security office and exercised authority over commune militia forces that directly committed torture and execution of people who were arrested on these various grounds and held without charge or trial. As a district party secretary and member of the higher-level sector committee, Chea Sim was implicated in the alleged enslavement of the population in these areas of the Khmer Rouge East Zone.

“Chea Sim was best known among Cambodians for running the police state in the 1980s that imprisoned and tortured people for peaceful political activities,” Adams said. “His legacy continues to this day, with unreformed security forces run for the interests of the ruling party instead of the public good.
Now who is the most likely lier

Heres Andrew Drumonds take on Chea's death

Mostly just a rehash of the HRW report

Note the link is how the only way i can read Drumond as his site is banned here :-)

When HRW=Brad Adams I think I might go with Cambodian Newspaper  I was stating that anything Brad Adams writes about HE is highly biased, and he his pursuing his own vendetta against HE. The PPP article “Cambodia: Chea Sim Death Shows Failings of the Khmer Rouge Court"was another illustration of Brad "having a go"at HE.I think Scooby posted a copy of this article on 440. Note even the opposition praised Chea Sim "Opposition leader Sam Rainsy yesterday praised former ruling party president Chea Sim, who died on Monday, calling him a national hero and comparing his patriotic ideals to those of the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk." :D http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/r ... e-chea-sim The link I posted was the MI's reply, which contains the quote "and went on to suggest that HRW might be better off without Adams". With which I am inclined to agree.
