Murder disguised as suicide.
Suicide ploy theory in killing
Pav Suy Monday, 20 February 2017
Police in Pursat province are hunting a husband who allegedly killed his new wife and hung her body in her house to make it look like a suicide.
The husband was identified as Kong Chiv, 29, and the victim as Heang Mary, 19. Kamrieng district police chief Neang Vuth said the body showed signs of being beaten.
“Later he tore a sarong and tied her neck tightly until she died,” Mr. Vuth said.
“Then he made it look like she committed suicide by hanging her to a house column.
“At 4pm on Friday, the sister of the victim could not find her, so she went to the house and opened the curtain and found her hanging by her neck.
“He probably killed her at about 7am, because a neighbor saw the husband leave the house with a suitcase at nearly 8am,” he said.
“They had been married for about 20 days. They lived at the wife’s house, but her mother went to work on a cassava planation in Prey Veng province and the father did not know what happened either because he left for work in the morning,” Mr. Vuth added.
“No one knows what they argued over.” Mr. Vuth gave three possible motives for the murder.
“First, we looked at the body of the victim. She had her period. We can say that probably the husband want to have sex, but she refused and he did not listen and got angry and killed her, this is the most likely motive,” he said.
“Second, the suspect is drug abuser listed on our blacklist and we have given him guidance before.
“And on the victim’s body, there is one gold earring. He may have robbed her to buy drugs, but she did not agree,” he said.
“Third, he was not happy with his wife leaving for Korea. But it is the least likely because the application process was agreed by both of them.”
Mr. Vuth declined to comment about the possible whereabouts of the suspect, fearing he would be tipped off. He added that he is tracking the suspect’s whereabouts through his phone number.
