Mormons Missionaries Don't Only Preaching, But Also Picking Trashes Off Phnom Penh's Street

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Anyone selflessly talking time out of their lives to pick up garbage for the common good is okay by me. God bless 'em and good to see so many local young folks getting involved. :thumb:

Nothing worse than Jesus creepers except when they're Mormon Jesus creepers...
A clean parade ground is an excellent thing in and of itself, while I am broadly in agreement with your underlying sentiments here, let us not make secular war on those who are prepared to get the job done.

Where money does not suffice, to effect the desired outcome, who can argue that hocus pocus is ineffective; additionally there is an element of shame to the locals for white shirted black tie jesu staff to be cleaning the Khmer environment.

Certainly in many Asian countries, modern ideas of hygiene are beginning to take hold.

In some small regard these missionaries do sterling work, even if their ideas emanate from planet Kolob.

Good on 'em, however, their efforts are in vain. The trash will be there again tomorrow.

The city/country needs rubbish bins in public areas.
And, more importantly, public education about waste disposal. With education they will soon appreciate a much cleaner city, less rats, no stinking heaps of garbage, clean waterways. A city to be proud of.

But, this is a good start. Let's hope it's contagious.

It's a good start, Now teach 'em that if they don't pick up garbage every day they will be tormented in hell for all eternity with flames and pitchforks and whatnot. And teach them not to masturbate, too. Every time someone touches their own genitals, the baby Jesus cries a little bit. Sure way straght to hell, that.

Mission accomplished as the American cousins are fond of saying when anything could be further from the truth.

After reading through this thread, I was just thinking what a sad state of Cambodian affairs it is that we are all relying on the Mormons for (trash) salvation.

I was cleaning up my stairwell the other week. Two flights of external stairs. The neighbors were all giving me dirty looks. I decided it may be better just to walk through the filth they throw everywhere rather than to upset them.
