Now today it has happened to me.
'Hello Sir, please leave the apartment today as we have rented the whole building.'
I have found a new place (fingers crossed - signing contract tomorrow) and been kindly given 2 days grace to move me and all my stuff (which is a shed load).
If it happens again at the new place then it is fire sale time and goodbye Sihanoukville.
And if anyone is searching for a decent sized SHV apartment with sep. bedroom and balcony PM me as the more barang in my new place the less likely I'll be tossed out onto the streets again with no warning. (Between LV and Don Bosco)
Good luck with your new place.

to my knowledge is that a cambodian enter a chinese restaurant with a girl.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2017 10:54 pm Update:
The story goes that a five or six Chinese men were dancing in a bar in a very drunken state, pushing people and treading on the feet of the Cambodian bar girls. The Khmer partners of the women took offense, and then either the men or the women hit one or several Chinese guys. Then the Chinese guys got angry and went to get their mates, and about 40 Chinese men came back to the bar armed with iron bars and wooden stakes.
The exact bar or casino or KTV where the incident began has not been named, but it is confirmed that it is close to Golden Lions Circle. It says here that the Chinese involved were staying at "Jinghong Casino in Quarter 4", but that might also be the bar in question.
The Chinese men were locked up for the night. It hasn't yet been revealed whether they will be charged with criminal offences relating to violence and destruction of property.

They look like "soft and white" casino workers, not construction workers. Hopefully they will all get a one way ticket back. Who besides Chinese would think you could do this in another country without serious consequences?

Hotdgr, if you don't want to be labelled as being something then stop acting the part. Blaming whites for turning S-ville into what you see as something undesirable is both ignorant and foolish. When a tourist area is cheap and not yet fully established then of course it's going to attract lower income tourists but that doesn't mean white tourists made S-ville into what it is. I've lived half my life in Asia and I know what I'm talking about so don't waste your time pretending to know something that you know little or nothing about because it makes you look like a total fool. When I don't know something I usually just shut up, listen, and learn. Maybe you should do the same, you schmuck...

Just another KTV brawl over Khmer getting jealous I expect. Boratey generally tend to eat the shit handed to them. Small groups of Chinese not so much. They tend to do the Cambodian thing and call all their mates. I'm sure all involved had a thoroughly good time and feel their honour is intact.
Expect a lot more of the same untill the Cambodians learn to adapt to the new type of tourist/ expat. At the moment, I'm sure they find the whole thing shocking when they gang up on some people thinking they have the upper hand, and then realising - hey! these guys don't play fair either.
I have heard a lot of the Chinese labourers are in fact Chinese convicts. No idea if there's any truth to this, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was. The deal apparently is to work for free but get any overtime paid. Better than being locked up I guess. And very good for the Chinese construction company not having to pay any wages.
EDIT oh hang on I just found a Guardian article about it.
This from 2010.
China's newest export: convicts
"
China has devised a novel strategy to relieve pressure on its overcrowded prisons: employ convicts as labourers on overseas projects in the developing world. [See footnote: Chinese response] The practice has exposed another facet of China's egregious human rights record which, when it comes to the overseas operations of Chinese companies, includes the government's failure to enforce its own regulations.
...
Chinese companies' operating practice for overseas projects, including in Africa, is to keep the number of local workers to a bare minimum and to bring in much of the workforce from China, some of which comprises convicts "freed" on parole for project-related overseas work. Convict labourers, like the rest of the Chinese workforce on such projects, are housed near the project site. That way, if any convict worker escaped, he would be easy to find in an alien setting.
