More Chinese Takeover in Sihanoukville

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The Square RIP 2018.
Sihanoukville has completely lost it's flavour.

Sad news. Though same time Xihu and Sunshine Bay hotels have hired over 200 people in last 30 days. All locals.

Some expats won’t listen to that sort of news. It’s just bad for the locals. Period.

Like they ever gave a shit about them.

Mr Min said one of the many benefits of a bullish construction sector is a noticeable rise in people’s living standards. “For example, people’s incomes have increased steadily; a citizen can now earn from $1,000 to $2,000 a year.”
So Chinese investment has doubled local's average salary?
How exactly is this a bad thing?
To gladly teach and gladly learn.

I think Martinis and Stumble Inn should be open now if the Youth Centre is finished.

And how many people became homeless and unemployed becuae of that place... regardless of the numbers you or I may assert, the numbers of locals displaced is fare greater.
Talk to Lars, formerly of purple bar on the serendipity beach evicted in the new casino expansion. My guess was around 400 displaced, he tells me more likely near or over 3ooo.
