More Chinese Takeover in Sihanoukville

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Haha, no, they're not sunk yet. They closed last weekend to organize a new place, but are still open for business. They should remain open for another couple of months until the end of their lease, but are opening a new place on the islands at the same time.
At least thats what they said about 2 days ago.

Hey JL. Just saw that someone said on fb that Titanic closed last night. That would be weird, but anything's possible. I'll check it out.

How can the leap be made the Sihanoukville will cross from being a land of Chinese casinos into a tech hub like Silicon Valley or Singapore? Is Iron Man planning on building a few dozen world class engineering schools to make it so?

Even with all the technical expertise of CCTV guiding them, Cambodian media is gonna have a hard time selling this idea.

The casinos, hotels and hordes of chinese tourists are perhaps the more visible aspects of the city however the Special Economic Zone at the moment is only at phase 1 and they have a long way to go to phase 3...
SSEZ has finished the initial phase of the development area of 5.28km², with textiles and garment, bags and leather products, hardware and machinery, wooden products as the leading industries. In the second phase, we will give full play to the advantage of port-vicinity and will mainly bring in industries such as machinery, equipment and construction materials. SSEZ will finally be built into a well-facilitated, fully-functional, ecological model industrial zone with 300 enterprises settled in and 80 thousand to 100 thousand industrial workers, thus will become the "Shenzhen" of Cambodia.

So yuh, it does look like a huge leap at this stage but he didn't say how long it would take...did he?

If the EU EBA is stopped most of these operations will cease and the Special Economic Zone will collapse.
The treason they are setting up here is to make use of the cheaper access to the European and US markets.

If they want to screw China then stop the EBA and the US tariff free deal.

Titanic is confirmed closed. Not surprising, even though they said they would slog on when we were talking earlier this week. They had problems with power and water cuts, and also a shitload of noise and dust from the enormous building site across the street. I remember when they opened, seems like yesterday. :dm:
Oh well, sign of the times.

When I ate there the Cordon Bleu was terrible. Christ knows what the brown goo was supposed to be. The steamed fish was good but they were unable to get it out to the table in less than 90 minutes. Have they moved to Koh Touch?

Cordon Bleu was good. I am friends with the sister of the owner, used to work with her in shv. A shame it's closing
