‘No More Bets’: China’s New Runaway Hit

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Now, look at this... Thai popstar with Korea's Blackpink has her Weibo account restricted for appearance at Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris. Lol, this is just one of thousands of examples of how China is treating its people like stupid marionettes. Micromanaging their thoughts and perceptions for god knows what reason. Two Chinese movie actresses went to Lisa's show, apparently, and their Weibo accounts were also restricted. Your social media account restricted -- for going to see a show! Wow, that takes the cake, China is fucked up.

Yes that was quite strange. The incident in Crazy Horse was sanctioned because stripping is ruled a 'sexual activity' in Chinese law rather than the 'art-form' it is presented as in Paris. Not only Lisa's personal Weibo account was shut down. She is/was brand ambassador for some global brands like Bvlgari and Celine. These two brands have removed her pictures from their Weibo pages, but also from their Instagram accounts. Even from Bvlgari's CEO's personal Insta account most pics have been removed, and at the same time these brands show support for her...

ahhh China

All of the photos featuring Lisa have disappeared from Weibo accounts of the two high-end brands, for which the singer is acting as the global ambassador, reported VN Express International online.

Several photos of Lisa of Blackpink have also been removed from Bulgari’s official Instagram account, the online quoted Ifeng, Chinese news site, as reporting.
Lisa’s personal Weibo account has been shut down since Wednesday, with those trying to access it getting a message saying the account was “reported for violations of the laws and Weibo’s regulations.”

if anyone is in Chiang Mai

No more best will screen at https://greenhousecowork.com/

Helping us to shed light on these and other questions and on the intertwined issues of forced labour, human trafficcking and Southeast Asian scam centres more generally (which Frontier has reported extensively on here, here and here) will be Jacob Sims, regional director for International Justice Mission and a leading expert on the nexus between transnational crime and forced labour.

A brief content warning: No More Bets depicts scenes of sometimes graphic violence. It may not be appropriate for all ages and viewers, so please bear that in mind.

As always, FF:CNX will be hosted at Greenhouse, our co-working and community space in the heart of Chiang Mai’s Nimmanhaemin District. Doors open on Friday, February 16, at 6pm. We will hold a brief discussion with Sims followed by a screening of the film shortly thereafter.

Driving on Cambodian roads is just like playing a classic arcade top scroller. The only difference is a force feedback controller, the limitation to only one life and the inability to restart, once Game Over
