Monk and Mates Arrested for Drug Trafficking
Kampong Cham, Cambodia News: At 4:50 pm on November 20, 2018, police from the Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of Interior conducted a raid where they arrested three people for drug use and trafficking in Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham province.
The three suspects were Yen Kim Heang, 27, a monk at Tuol Sroa pagoda, Koh Roka village,Eun Moeun, 21, resident of Koh Roka village, and
Song Viphak, a 19-year-old resident of Thmor Kol village.
The evidence confiscated by police included 4 packages of white powder, suspected to be drugs, and some material for packaging the merchandise. Two mobile phones and two motorbikes were also confiscated by the authorities. A representative from Tuol Sroa pagoda was also called in after they were notified of the monk's arrest, and he will also be disciplined by the religious authorities.
The three suspects are being charged by police for drug use and trafficking and their case is being prepared for court.
