Ministry Officer and Private Bank Employee Accused of $ 530,000 Theft

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: A Ministry of Public Works officer and a private bank employee, who were arrested by Phnom Penh Municipal Police Department of Criminal Justice over a joint charge of stealing more than $ 500,000 in state taxes, appeared before Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday afternoon, 27 February 2020.
Police arrested Chan Simmha, a 39-year-old male, deputy director of the Ministry of Public Works in Porsenchey, and Teang Vathanak Neary, 32, a female private bank employee, also working in Porsenchey, on February 24, 2020. The pair have been charged with violating a private bank's trust and stealing $ 530,000 in corporate tax on Jan. 16, 2020.
