Ministries to start enforcing laws

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Very interesting logic that they use for numbering all these Prakases. Prakas 198 is from 2014, Prakas 555 from 1995. Do they count backwards? Do they choose a random number?, or do they count up to 1.000 and begin with 1 again ? The mysteries of the Cambodian judicial system are sheer unlimited.

That is funny. Prakases ... nice. Chakras, even better. The reason for the outburst is this subject has gone on for months. The guy in the article (How PPP let him write that is beyond me) is looking to make money or start some shit. Point being, not one person has been 'fined'.

Yes, they came to businesses. Checking. One person complaining? Don't let the fake immigration police fool you. I think that is what is going to happen.

We shall see. So many threads, and not one victim. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm .................

A week ago some immigration officers checked all houses with foreigners in my street. They didn't check me though because my (Cambodian) neighbor, some high ranking military guy guaranteed them that he knows me personally, that I'm a good person (I'm feeding his dog regularly ;) ) , that all my documents are in order and that I don't work (which is not true). As far as I know, no person has been fined.

I think we should just pull this into the right light. I've posted recent Prakas, and I know it is all legal terminology based on previous law.

Let me make some things very easy and clear.

First, nobody has been fined. Right?

Second, nobody knows anything at all.

Third ... Your Mother says keep your visa up to date and eat your Wheaties.

I now rest my case. Damn that boy made me break the sauce out.

Johnny Walker could make me end up on Oprah!

That was probably for the census of foreigners in the kingdom. The census and the work permit issue seem to have got hopelessly entangled, visits to home addresses are usually to do with the former, while those to work places concern themselves with work permits etc. :hattip:

Okay, so I had a chat with Lucky Lucky. She told me this. Visas are the same price. All of them. She said they start stuff like this all the time. She also said the dude in immigration changed, so there should now be a different signature on your visa from before. She has been asked 'millions' of times in the last 3 months. She also said if you want a work book, come on over and waste your money.

I was a little frustrated so pushed her about the prakas. She said:

There is a new part to the Ministry of Labor. So they have to include them. She said if you rent an apartment, your landlord should go to the village head dude. If that dude sells you out, you may get a visit from fake uniformed people. Just tell them to hold on while you call your police and immigration buddies. If at night, tell them to come back tomorrow.

She also offered me a driver's license for 5 years. Damn, I love it here. Shame I'm gonna leave.

I hope this helps. Because I have talked to and emailed everyone including the UN, and to be honest Lucky Lucky gave me the most feasible and pertinent answer. And tea.
