2 Men Busted Smuggling Meth Across the Border from Laos

he Stung Treng Provincial Court charged two Cambodian men with transporting and trafficking illicit drugs Saturday after they confessed to bringing almost a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine across the Laos border last week, a court official said Monday.

Kham Pham, 62, and Sun Sayakphun, 53, were arrested on Friday while transporting the 845-gram haul through a forested area just 2 km from the Laos border in Siem Pang district’s Sre Sambor commune.

“They confessed already. They said they were hired and they could get $5,000 profit,” said Eang Kimthol, director of the provincial court.

“They said that they knew a Lao national there and he is the one who hired them to bring [the drugs] to Cambodia,” he said, adding that the investigating judge was still working on the case.

Police say the two men, who are being detained in the provincial prison, were born in Cambodia but fled to Laos in 1970.

Military police have made 12 drug-trafficking.....
