Sihanoukville - Cruise ship passenger killed while boarding.
Sounds like she fell overboard.Somebody wasn't paying attention.
https://www.cambodiadaily.com/news/fema ... lle-81306/A female passenger was killed Wednesday after an accident that occurred as she attempted to board the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship while it was moored off the coast of Sihanoukville, according to a statement from the cruise line.
Cunard, the cruise line that runs the Queen Elizabeth, said in a statement posted to its Facebook page that a female passenger died while boarding the ship from one of its tenders—a small boat used to transport passengers to and from the shore.
“Two of our crew members reacted very quickly and jumped in to rescue her,” the statement says. “She was then taken to the medical centre but despite our very best efforts she died.”
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/cruis ... ender.htmlThe cruise ship, part of the Cunard fleet, was in Sihanoukville, a deep-water port city in Cambodia, on a 112-night world cruise which left Southampton on January 10.
"We can confirm that a passenger died earlier today following an accident whilst boarding Queen Elizabeth from a tender," says the official statement. "Two of our crew members reacted very quickly and jumped in to rescue her. She was then taken to the medical centre but despite our very best efforts, she died."
Gangway ramps can, on occasion, break free of either the ship or the tender, causing passengers or crew to fall into the sea. Carnival Group offered no further comment on the accident.

Retired teacher determined to visit Cambodia despite osteoarthritis dies after stumbling from boat
A grandmother died after being crushed by a small passenger boat as she tried to step onto a pontoon while cruising on the Cunard Queen Elizabeth liner.
Mary Atherton had been making her way between a pontoon and the tender used to transport passengers between land and the ship during a trip to Cambodia.
The 75-year-old was crushed by the tender after falling as she stepped onto the pontoon just as a gap opened.
