That's understandable. I'm not trying to say they are wrong, however the pictures did look suspicious. In the absence of competent police investigations it's quite reasonable to have doubts or ask questions.Anchor Moy wrote:
There has been NO SUGGESTION from either of the two families involved, or friends in Sihanoukville, or the police, or anyone else, that there is anything at all about these two self-inflicted deaths that looks suspicious or unlikely.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I'll tell you how. It's hard, but they did it.John Bingham wrote:That's understandable. I'm not trying to say they are wrong, however the pictures did look suspicious. In the absence of competent police investigations it's quite reasonable to have doubts or ask questions.
1.-they climbed up the chair you see in front of them.
2.-they tied the rope around they're necks and blindfolded themselves
3.-She tied his hands first. After that, he did the better he could to tie her hands (you can see her arm is loosley tight)
4.-Both of them jumped to eternity. He is heavier, so you can see her final position is higher and her neck more twisted.
So sad. My best wishes for their families.

Yes, that is all feasible and explains what is seen in the images and addresses any perceived anomalies an incongruities. The one thing I haven't seen is what anchor point was used. That's one theory. Unless you were there how could be so sure?elAfiliado wrote: I'll tell you how. It's hard, but they did it.

Nothing much new in this Guardian article published yesterday - same information as the other news outlets - a lot of it picked up from social media. Family and friends seem shocked and saddened, but there are no suggestions that the deaths were not suicides.
The mothers of the deceased couple are both crowd-funding to come to Cambodia for the cremations. A Foreign Office spokesman says they "are ready to support the families".
[One thing of note is the suicide prevention message at the end of the article :
If anyone knows of such a thing as a crisis/suicide number for foreigners, suggest that they post it here, or elsewhere on the forum. It could be of help to someone.]

No, of course there is no hotline or crisis support number listed for Cambodia. In the UK and Ireland the Samaritans can be contacted on 116 123. In the US, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline is 1-800-273-8255. In Australia, the crisis support service Lifeline is on 13 11 14. Hotlines in other countries can be found here.

When I was a journo we were not allowed to report on suicides.

It was a bit surreal reading about this in the paper on my way home from work. Imogen was one of my friends at school, we used to go to the cafe in our free periods. She probably knew me the best of anyone at that point in my life. It was a very long time since I saw her but she was never very happy. I wasn't either but I got through it and sadly it seems like she didn't. If her own family don't doubt at all that this is a suicide then you guys don't need to either. RIP Imo
