Man charged for having sex with teenage girlfriend
Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged a security guard for allegedly having sex with his underage girlfriend in Meanchey district.

Captain Sok Bunly, a district penal police officer, identified the accused as Cheas Nol, 25, living in the district’s Chak Angre Loeu commune.

He noted that Mr Nol was arrested on Saturday following a complaint by the 52-year-old father of the girlfriend, who is 14.

Cap Bunly said that according to the father’s report and a police investigation, the accused in March got to know the girl, who works as a waitress in the commune, through Facebook and they became intimate.

He noted that they had sex once a week in Mr Nol’s rental room.

Cap Bunly said that from November 10 to November 15, the accused tried several times to contact the girl by phone but could not reach her.

He said that he became angry and on November 15 rode his motorbike to her workplace, where he saw her sitting with a guest.

“After arriving at the place and seeing his girlfriend sitting with a man, the accused became jealous,” he said. “He was also angry with her for switching off her phone and not contacting him for many days.”

“He pulled her off the seat, argued with her and threatened to beat her. Other customers were surprised by the commotion,” he added.

Cap Bunly said the father, who was nearby waiting to pick up his daughter, saw them arguing.

He noted that the father took her home and the girl told him about her relationship with the accused. Cap Bunly said the father became angry and filed a complaint with police.

Ly Kosal, a court clerk, said yesterday that Mr Nol is charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor and faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted.
