A driver assistant blazed himself with 5 liters of gasoline as he was accused of raping his grandmother

Tbong Khmom, According to Koh Santepeapdaily news, a 24 years old Cambodian man name Cheam Phalam, living in Sen Son Tbong village, Sroke commune, Prey Choor district, decided to end his life by soaking himself with 5 liters of gasoline and set himself on fire. The motive that led to this suicide was a rumor going on which accused him of raping his grandmother. This shocking event happened around 4:15 pm on 12 September 2015.

Police has confirmed that the victim name Cheam Phalam, 24 years old. On that day he bought 5 litter of gasoline from a person name Narong, and then he soaked himself with that gasoline and started to blaze himself which caused an extreme shock to people and local authority. People tried to help him and later on he rolled himself into mud. Police called ambulance to take him to provincial hospital, however because his burnt was really severe, doctor said. So he later was sent to hospital in Kampong Cham Province. Recently, he is staying in Kompong Cham province alone; no one is looking after him.

Police added, presently he is only living with his grandmother who is sick as his parents already passed away long time ago. He has got a sister but she is living in Phnom Penh and the rumor is not true too.

I think this has to do with saving face. This little poor soul must had been struggling a lot with this. I hope that more Cambodians would not give a shit with what other people think about them and pay less attention to the saving face stuff. There were times that i really focused on saving face, but that was before and now i really don't care.

Saving face can kill people. My bf adapted French culture when he came back from study there and wanted me to live with him. Then I decided to break up.

I hope this guy can struggle with life again.
