Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Man Arrested with Illegal Weapon on Attempted Murder Charge

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Prey Veng): On January 5, 2020, a 44-year-old man, Ven Ouk, was arrested for using an illegal weapon and trying to kill a man in Svang Antong village, Prey Veng. The victim was identified as Kheam Srouy, a 60-year-old man.

Before the incident, the suspect went to work at the construction site. But when he got there he was angry with the victim, so he got an AK47 gun and tried to shoot the victim, who then ran away and filed a complaint at the police station.

The suspect was detained at Svay Antong police station for questioning.

That's a Soviet AKM and not the usual Chinese Type 56 found here. I'm always amazed at how grimy some of these weapons end up, makes me wonder if the barrel has been cleaned out in the past decade?
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I have a Chinese model here in Kansas and buy Russian ammo by the case. UPS delivers it in 2-3 days from Cheaper Than Dirt out of Ft. Worth, Texas.
I installed an underfolder stock on it last summer.
A fine weapon.
With the 30 round mag full it is fairly heavy for most people. I sure love mine compared to the composite plastic rifles most people have around here.
I could clean that baby up in no time.

Was it not the main point of the development of the weapon, that it only needed very little maintenance.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

You can bury it in your garden for a couple of years, dig it out and it'll still fire once the dirt is knocked out of it.
