PHOMN PENH - Police officials have detained a man who pretended to be a beggar on Street 371 in Russey Village, Stung Meanchey II, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.
Police said that at 4:10 pm, the military police force in Meanchey district were passing on Street 371, when they found a man lying on a wheelchair on the road begging. After observing his physical features, the Royal Gendarmerie reported the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Minority Protection Bureau for questioning.

The beggar is a 38-year-old homeless man who has disguised himself fraudulently as handicapped in order to obtain money from people who take pity on him.

This is the second time that Brigadier General Rath Seng, commander of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Phnom Penh Military Police, led the crackdown. He said that begging was due to laziness, and it caused chaos, chaos, social disorder and many other crimes.

A video about this fake beggar getting arrested from Reddit:

"Life is too important to take seriously."

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."

I think it's the same video that was posted here on the 1st March.

I saw something similar a month ago. A man was filming and shouting at a "handicapped" beggar. As the man filming came closer and closer, the beggar moved faster and faster until he crossed the central divider and sprinted into traffic, being chased by the other guy. Would've loved to see that video

That video needs to have some English sub-titles and made compulsory viewing on all inbound flights.

The most surprising part of that video was the wallpaper in the interview room. The police must have had a pretty good run of late to get their station decorated so nicely!
