Man Arrested for Cutting His Wife's Throat in front of His Coworkers

Kampong Speu, Cambodia News: A 31-year-old man, Som Phon, was arrested for attempting to murder his wife by slitting her throat at a construction site in Toul Kor village, Chbarmorn City, Kampong Speu. The victim was identified as Srey Ny, 32 years old.

The suspect confessed that he cut his wife's throat because he was jealous and suspected she had another man. Before the incident, the woman had gone out for a while, and when she came back, the suspect and the victim argued with each other. Suddenly, he took a cutter blade to cut her throat in front of his coworkers.

The suspect was detained immediately, and the victim was sent to the hospital.
On November 7, the suspect was sent to the provincial police station to follow the legal action.

Husband charged over bid to kill wife
November 9, 2018
Kampong Speu Provincial Court yesterday charged a construction site supervisor who tried to kill his wife after he caught her having sex with another man in Chbarmon district on Tuesday.

Captain Suong Sophath, deputy chief of the district’s criminal investigation department, identified the accused as Sam Phoan, 31, and his wife as Sok Sreyni, 32.

He noted that both husband and wife worked for the same construction firm and lived on the construction site in the district’s Svay Kravann commune. Cap Sophath said that Mr Phoan and Ms Sreyni started working at the site in September.

He noted that Ms Sreyni met and fell in love with a 27-year-old fellow worker with whom she had sex in her room whenever her husband was busy or away from the construction site.

Cap Sophath said that at about 7pm on Tuesday, Ms Sreyni brought her boyfriend to have sex in her room while her husband was away.

“While they were having sex, the husband walked in and the boyfriend fled from the room,” he said. “The accused was angry with his wife for betraying him and severely beat her.”

“After beating her, he took a sharp vegetable knife and slashed her throat, causing serious injuries,” he added.
