Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

no need to be mean, I was just joking. I absolutely don't mind driving 2 hours to get to PP but my observation is true, there are 3 huge cement factories on my way, and a lot of clothing factories as well, during change of shifts that road is packed with trucks, factory workers, etc, so it would be a huuge benefit for all, not just me, if they could add an extra lane.

Consider it done. I will talk to HE when he returns from China with more borrowed money than he knows what to do with.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Cambodia to receive $7 million from China
21 December 2017
Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn signed a new cooperation agreement with China today, receiving over $7 million to fund various projects discussed during the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation meeting last week in China.

A ministry press release announcing the funding states that 16 projects were approved "under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund framework".

The primary focus of the agreement is environmental, with funds going towards monitoring water quality, restoring forests and addressing land degradation.

The funds will also go towards reducing poverty in rural parts of Cambodia, and “Community Development Along Mekong River”, as well as a project listed as a “Buddhist Development Program” managing Theravada Buddhism along the Mekong.
Other projects address tourism, regional cooperation, and the spread of disease...

As far as I know the national road on the way to kep will be enlarged considerably starting from chom Chau I believe it won't be the full way yet. Just the busiest parts and the part near PP. Kep province is going to expand its main road until the kampot province border on the way to PP as they already did on the way to kampot town.

Great. I also heard Him say a couple of days ago in a speech to factory workers he will make sure the road between PP and Kep gets widened. Looked at the previous suggestion by Username Taken but a helicopter is a bit out of my budget unfortunately. $250.000 to buy and min $150 per hour for gasoline and maintenance! I'll keep my car for now.

Not a bad list for the $7 Million. Should get some change I think to upgrade the Chinese border markers.

Chinese premier to pay Cambodia official visit
3 January 2018
- Chinese Premier Le Keqiang – the No. 2 politician in the Chinese government – will visit Phnom Penh for an official visit next week.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Chum Sounry confirmed the leader will attend the second Mekong Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting next Wednesday and pay an official visit the next day.

The three-day summit comes at a time when Cambodia’s relationship with China is at an all-time high, as the Kingdom pivots away from its traditional pro-democracy Western partners in favour of Beijing’s no-strings-attached financial aid.

China, already Cambodia’s top foreign donor, has also publicly supported Cambodia’s crackdown on the opposition and independent political voices.

Keqiang will be accompanied by businesspeople looking for investment opportunities in Cambodia.
