Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A Phnom Penh ice cream factory leaked ammonia, causing harm to the surrounding residents and was inspected and instructed to temporarily close the business. The ammonia leak caused a surprise on the night of January 4, 2021 in Village K.1, Sangkat Chrang Chamres II, Khan Russey Keo.

According to sources, the cause of the ammonia leak is unknown. At the time of the incident, while the neighbors were eating, the gas suddenly spread, causing the villagers to suffocate and report to authorities to take action.

During the inspection, the commission said that the leaked ammonia was due to a technical error, but that the ammonia's odor was affecting the lives of neighbors, so the authorities have advised the owners to temporarily close their businesses and prepare to correct their technical standards so they do not cause harm to their neighbors. Otherwise, the district authority will request the Phnom Penh Capital Administration to close the business completely.

It should be noted that in the past, the same factory has often caused ammonia leaks causing respiration problems for the people living close by.
